Cingle de trémolat, Terre de Calès
Depuis plusieurs années, j’ai souhaité réaliser un dessin dans le paysage réunissant ou reliant plusieurs parcelles…
Une rivière, la Dordogne, enserrant 85 ha de terres irriguées, une vingtaine de parcelles, et un magnifique point de vue me sont offerts…
L’œuvre va évoluer au fil des saisons, du semis au mois d’avril 2008 à la récolte au mois d’octobre 2008.

///CROSSED LANDSCAPE
Cingle Trèmolat, Lands of Calès
For several years, I wished to accomplish a landscape drawing’ that would link up parcels of land. This idea will take birth in spring 2008, “in” a wonderful landscape of the municipality of Calès, in the county of Dordogne, France.
Approximately 20 properties surrounding the Dordogne river have been offered to me for this purpose.
The art piece will change following the seasons, from the seeding in April to the crop in October.

Situé prés de la rivière corrego do fogo, cet espace était une favela (favela Boa esperança) jusqu’à l’été 2007.La polution engendrée par les habitants a obligé la mairie de la demolir (en relogeant les habitants)
Le dessin des chemins reprend exactement le plan des anciennes habitations, le but etant que les anciens habitants puissent retrouver leur maison…à cette trame j’ai rajouté la trame des plantes qui suit le cour de la rivière…

///THE BOA ESPERANÇA PROJECT:
This area, located near the corrego do fogo river, was the site of the Boa Esperança favela (shantytown) until the summer of 2007.
Due to the pollution produced by this depressed neighbourhood, the local government decided to destroy the habitations and relocate its residents.
For this piece, I have created paths that exactly follow the site demarcations of the structures that once stood here. In this way, former residents will be able to find the exact location of their previous homes.
I added coloured swaths of plants that follow the meanderings of the river . Hence, the history of this favela is embedded in the project.
